Now that you have tinkered with the device and are familiar with the Linux commands from the command prompt, it is quite easy to install downloaded software’s from the internet onto the Raspberry Pi as it comes with a program called package manager. This unravels all dependencies and takes the onus of downloading and installing the software that you choose along with any other software it requires to work appropriately.

The package manager is named as apt. You will require the authority of the root user or super user of the computer. Since the root account is not enabled on the Raspberry Pi by default, you would require using the word sudo as a prefix to specify that you want the authority of the root user.

Type the following two commands in the Linux shell for downloading and installation of Libre office:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Feel free to explore the suite, as it is akin to Microsoft Office suite or even open office. Minor differences may be present, but with hands on approach these should disappear over a period of time.
